Accommodation

Boarders at St Patrick's College live in small residential communities of 10-15 boys. Each Boarding House has a Housemaster and a Residential Tutor that live in the House. Boys are accommodated in rooms of either 2 or 3 students, depending upon their year level.

All of the Boarding Houses are located on the property at St Patrick's College. The College is located on Sturt Street, approximately three kilometres from Ballarat’s city centre. A bus service runs along Sturt Street for boys providing transport to the city centre. The College provides transport for school activities and regular outings such as sports training, music lessons and medical appointments.

Having small numbers of boys in each House ensures that students are provided with high levels of pastoral care and tutoring support. Parents quickly become acquainted with House staff and are able to contact them if they have matters that need to be discussed.

At St Patrick's College we never forget that we look after boys on behalf of their family and firmly believe that although away from home each boy’s education is a partnership between the College, Boarding Master and the family.

Living within a small, supportive community ensures that boarding at St Patrick's College is an extension of the family home – a home away from home where boys can focus on studies and a broad range of co-curricular activities. Boys are closely supervised and supported but are also expected to embrace the responsibilities that come from living within a small community and are encouraged to develop independent living skills. These skills and experiences will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.
