Rugby

The Rugby Presentation Dinner was held in the Old Collegian’s Pavilion on Monday September 4 from 6:30pm. A highlight of the night was the inaugural “Ecka Dora” Community Service Award, which is an initiative of the newly formed Parent Committee, being presented to Mr Leigh McKee and Mr Mike Govers. Both have given many years’ service to the College’s Rugby program.  See below the student prize winners. A bug thank you to Mike Silcock, Tina Benoit and Keenan Waterbury for all their work prior to the evening and over the course of the year.

Junior Soccer - SPC versus Ballarat College

Game 6, 31/8/2017

SPC 5 defeated Ballarat College 0

Our sixth game was against Ballarat College at Morshead Park. After some drier days the pitch was in reasonable condition and the boys were again able to play a good brand of soccer. St Patrick’s played into the wind in the first half and even though we controlled the game, goals were not forthcoming. It appeared that whatever we tried, goals were not going to be scored. In the second half, and with a slight wind, we were finally able to score with Hugh Ollerenshaw scoring a nice goal. The goals were then scored regularly with Fergus Finn and Ryan Carton scoring. After undertaking the Keeper role, Isaac Watts was provided with the opportunity to play up forward. He scored twice in the last 10 minutes. Well done Isaac!

Goals, Hugh Ollerenshaw, Fergus Finn, Ryan Carton, Isaac Watts (2)

Best, Alex Pituch, Chang Ruach, Harry Barnett

Run Ballarat

Sunday October 22. Register under “St. Patrick’s College”

- 100% of every registration goes towards the redevelopment of the Children’s Ward at the Ballarat base Hospital

- Gives our College the opportunity to receive vouchers for Sporting equipment. The more students/families that register the more sporting equipment we get.

Western Highway Late Bus

The college will continue to offer a late bus service, leaving at 6:00pm, for students who participate in after school co-curricular activities here at the college, not just sport. Application forms are available from Student Services in the ERC. Once registered students need to place their name on the late bus register no later than recess on the day of travel. All inquiries please contact Glenis in the ERC. This service will not be offered in the first and last week of term.

SPC Sport Uniform

All sport uniforms can be purchased at the College Shop. Students need to ensure they are in the correct uniform to participate. The general sport uniform is the navy blue polo top, navy shorts and white socks. Certain sports will require very specific clothing e.g. Football and Rugby. Students should check with their coach as to what is required.

I wish all students and coaches the best in 2017. Always play the game in the right spirit, wear the correct uniform and respect the facilities, home and away. St. Patrick’s College is steeped in sporting tradition and you are encouraged to add more chapters to our past endeavours.

Please do not hesitate to contact myself (gwebb@stpats.vic.edu.au) or Sports Administrator Ms Tina Benoit (tbenoit@stpats.vic.edu.au) at the College with any questions.
