Our Old Boys have been busy boys in all sectors, including:

  • Well done to Josh Muir (SPC 2004-07), who has designed the Richmond Football Club's special 2017 Indigenous round jumper which will likely be worn by three other Old Collegians, Shaun Grigg (SPC 2001-06), Dan Rioli (SPC 2012-15), pictured above, and Dan Butler (SPC 2009-14). 

  • Congratulations to inducted College Legend Shane McInerney (SPC 1983-88) who will this weekend become just the second man in history to umpire 450 senior AFL games. Well done Shane!

  • Good luck to Steve Bracks (SPC 1968-71) who is in contention for a high profile MCG gig. For more, go to this link 

  • Well done to Old Collegians Will Young (SPC 2003-04, PY2008) and Ryan Luke (SPC 2001-06), representing North Ballarat City, and Grant Bell (SPC 2002-07) playing for Redan, who have made the Ballarat Football League interleague line-up to face Bendigo tomorrow. For more, go to

  • We congratulate Mark Hill (SPC 1977-82) on his appointment as Chief Investment Officer of Barrick Gold Corporation in Canada, one of the world’s largest gold mines. In the newly-created position, Mark chairs Barrick’s Investment Committee. Mark has more than 25 years of experience in the mining industry and he has re-joined Barrick after four years at Waterton Global Resource Management, where he was a partner and Head of Mining. Prior to Waterton, Mark’s positions at Barrick included Vice President, Evaluations, and Vice President, Capital Projects. He has also held senior positions with BHP Billiton, AngloGold Ashanti, Placer Dome, and WMC Ltd. To read more, go to this link

  • Nick O’Brien (SPC 2006-11) will be joined by two former Essendon footballers when he returns to play for home club Carngham-Linton later this season. To read more and see who it is, go to this link

  • Esteemed Old Collegian Kevin Cunningham (SPC 1939-42), who sadly died on April 17, aged 89, was recognised for his considerable work in the community, to read more go to this link and this link

  • We recently heard from Daniel Abbott (SPC 2013-15) who is three years into a diesel mechanic apprenticeship in Bairnsdale. Daniel is looking forward to completing his final year and becoming a qualified mechanic. Good work Daniel!

  • We welcome former boarder Daniel Briggs (SPC 2012-14) onto the staffing team at the College as a Boarding Assistant. Daniel served as Captain of Boarding in 2014.

  • We recently heard from Daniel Hillman (SPC 2011-2016) who is studying Bachelor of Acting for Theatre and Screen at Federation University Ballarat.   • Building on the success of his first ever exhibition, Peter Blenkiron’s (SPC 1974-77) Putting The Pieces of Self Together One Moment at a Time will now be shown at the Art Gallery of Ballarat from May 13 to June 11. Well done Peter! To read more, go to this link

  • Sam Short (SPC 2011-16) made his long-awaited return from a serious ankle injury to line up for the Miners. In other great news, Sam has also signed with Melbourne United for the upcoming National Basketball League season. To read more, go to this link and this link

  • Pat Shaw (SPC 1998-2004) tells of his excitement that Ballarat will continue to host the National Road Championships for another three years. The announcement was made by fellow Old Collegian Steve Bracks (SPC 1968-71), who is now the chairman of Cycling Australia. To read more, to to this link

  • Well done to Tom Williamson (SPC 2012-16) who made his AFL debut for Carlton against Essendon and played a stellar game. Tom became the 113th Old Boy to play at the highest level and our second debutant for 2016!
