Football

The College is recognised as having one of the leading Australian Rules School Football Programmes in Australia, having been the educational home for 85 old boys who have gone on to play VFL/AFL football. This esteemed list includes Brownlow medallists John James and Brian Gleeson, Reg Hickey, Barry Richardson, Michael McGuane and contemporary players Matt Rosa (WCE), Clinton Young (Haw), James McDonald (Melb), Drew Petrie (Kangaroos), Peter Walsh (Power) and Tristan Cartledge (Ess).

The College won the prestigious 2005 MCC Herald Sun Shield, the state's premier football competition for schools. The side has been training intensley since March having participated in an educational and enjoyable football camp with all players committed to the goal of winning the MCC Herald Sun Shield and Ballarat Associated Schools (BAS) double in 2006.

In 2009 The College were defeated by Assumption College Kilmore in a nail biting final. Congratulations to all boys, Coach Mr Howard Clark and all supporters of the 1st XVIII.
