News around the Boarding Precinct

  • Good luck to our Boarders and the 1stXV Rugby team as they compete on Saturday in the VSRU State Grand Final against St Kevin’s College. The team have worked hard all season and it has been a credit to the boarders and coaching staff to achieve all they have in this season, finishing undefeated, on top of the ladder and then beating Marcellin College in a hard-fought Semi-Final match. We wish Mr Silcock, Ethan Councillor (11), Damien Vincent (11), Archie Pollard (Vice-Captain) (11), Kenny O’Connor (11), Charlie Delaney (10) and Xavier Hayter (10) all the best for the game and we know they will represent themselves and the College well on the day.

  • Congratulations to all players involved in the First XVIII Football campaign this season. Eight of our Boarders took to the ground in the Herald Sun Shield Grand Final on Wednesday against St Bede’s College, Mentone. Although the result was not in our favour, the Boarders playing represented themselves and the College exceptionally well and played some fantastic football. Well done to Kayne Councillor (12), Jack Tillig (12), Cooper Atchison (12), Liam O’Brien (12), Pat Rea (11), Fraser Marris (11), Flynn Atchison (11) and Toby Jennings (11) on a well fought contest.

  • We look forward to seeing several of our Year 10 Boarders attend the upcoming St Patrick’s College and Loreto College social. No doubt, our Boarders will look fabulous in their suits and ties and have a wonderful night of dancing and making new friends.

  • It has been a busy few weeks with Boarders undertaking their subject selections for next year, completing assessment tasks as well as keeping up to date with their day-to-day class work. Our scheduled study sessions and support of our Study Tutors have allowed our Boarders extra time and assistance to ensure that they are meeting all the requirements that are expected of them. It is important that our Boarders remember their own responsibilities with regards to their learning and ensure that, amongst their many priorities, their study is at the forefront of their thinking.

  • This past week was our annual Chris Nolan Assembly, that recognises our high achieving scholars from Semester (1). There was an unprecedented representation of Boarders, which highlights the particular focus that we have placed on our Boarders’ academic journey this year, although we applaud each Boarder individually for their own commitment to this. Whilst all of our recipients are to be congratulated we would especially like to make mention of those who received an award for the first time -“ Eric Yang and Eoghan Purser in Year 7 and Patrick Rea (Yr11). There has been much to celebrate this fortnight, however our Chris Nolan award recipients holds the greatest significance.

  • Last Friday night, we hosted many of our Boarding families, their friends, our Boarders and members of the College’s Leadership at our termly Boarders’ Family Dinner and Mass. This was a wonderful occasion, deliberately designed to create an informal and relaxed opportunity for many to catch up, share a meal and spend quality time together. Many thanks to Chartwells, our outstanding Catering team, who provided an American-style buffet, one which everyone enjoyed, evident by the amount of times people went back for seconds!! Thank you to all of the families and staff who were able to make this wonderful occasion the success that it was. We would also highlight next term’s event, our Yr12 Farewell on Sunday, October 20th, to mark in your diaries now.
