News around the Boarding Precinct

Welcome back to Term (3), a busy term for many of our Boarders, especially our Yr12’s, who are working hard, focusing on their final exams, which creep closer and closer. Mr.Silcock addressed all our Boarding Community this past Monday evening and asked all to be cognisant of the needs of our Yr12s as well as reminding our Yr12s to find balance to their studies and rest. We are here for all to assist in whatever way is necessary.

  • For this new semester, we have welcomed three new staff members to our Boarding Community.- Macky Steyn and Ruan Pretorius from South Africa and Ollie Williamson from the United Kingdom. Our GAP Tutor program continues to enrich our Boarding Community with the inclusion of such cultural diversity and the individual expertise that these young men bring. Jarryd completes our GAP Tutor team and will remain with us until the end of this College year.

  • Along with our new staff, we have also had the pleasure of welcoming seven new students across the year levels into St Patrick’s College Boarding. Flynn Grigg (Yr11), Alex Kinsman (Yr10), Rory Cadigan (Yr9), Bradley Singe (Yr9) and Keanu Minniecon (Yr7). For this term, we are also hosting two Japanese students from Linden Hall High School, Kojiro Tashiro and Mitsuki Kamino, both joining us in Year 9. We wish all of our new students the best as they adapt to Boarding life and we shall do all we can as always to ensure they maximize the opportunities presented to them at this College and that they enjoy their Boarding experience, which is our ultimate goal for all our Boarders.

  • Congratulations to Koni Wolfgramm (Yr11), who was recently named in the Victorian School Boys, Under 18 Rugby squad, which saw him compete in the Australian School Boys Championship in Sydney over the holiday break. Koni represented himself, his family and the College extremely well, dominating on the field. We also congratulate Joshua Wilson-Stanton on his recent selection to the Victorian School Boys, U16 Rugby squad, which now commences its program ahead of National Championships in the September College holidays.

  • Well done to those that represented the College First XVIII program in the Herald Sun Shield Football Semi Final. Lochie Brook-Harrison (Yr12), Scotty Carlin (Yr12), Adam Morrish (Yr12), Josh Chatfield (Yr12), Adrian Lawrence (Yr12), Isaac Wareham (Yr11), Jack Tillig (Yr11) and Fraser Marris (Yr10), all contributed to a convincing win against Aquinas College. Our boys will now relish the opportunity to play on the MCG on Saturday August 18 as a curtain raiser to the Collingwood v Port Adelaide AFL game.

  • Good luck to Delroy Tranter (Yr10), Flynn Atchison (Yr10) and Austin Reinehr (Yr9) as they head to Box Hill this week to compete in the Intermediate section of the Herald Sun Shield Football competition.

  • All the best to our Boarders and Boarding staff involved in the SPC Rugby Program as they play their final matches for the season. Our First XV team will go on to play finals in the coming weeks, which is a wonderful achievement for all involved.

  • We are now only days away from taking ownership of the final piece of the Boarding Precinct puzzle, the new kitchen and dining room. To celebrate this occasion, we will be holding our Term 3 Family Dinner in the new facility on Sunday 5th August. This is such an exciting time for all involved and a credit to those that have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to provide our Boarders of St Patrick’s College, the best facilities imaginable.

  • Finally, we would like to publicly congratulate Fletcher Gallagher, Cooper Atchison and Joshua Wilson-Stanton who were appointed this past Monday night to the position of Yr11 Boarding Prefect. The Headmaster was able to join us for dinner where he presented each Boarder with their badge and wished them well in their new position of responsibility. Our two Senior GAP Tutors, Macky and Jarryd, will be providing close support for all our Prefects with their various portfolios and duties as this semester develops.
