-‘Boarding Bulletin Board (T2)’

News around the Boarding Precinct

  • As this term draws to a close, we look back on the many opportunities that have been made available to our Boarders over the course of this semester. Volunteer opportunities on a Monday evening, as part of the agreement with The Smith Family, have helped not only our Boarders develop leadership skills, but have proven to be an enjoyable experience for all involved. We have collected donations over the term for both the Ballarat Winter Woolies Drive, The Ballarat Soup Bus and MND Victoria. On top of this, we have volunteered at many Community Events including Walk Off the War Within, The Mother’s Day Classic and the RSPCA Million Paws Walk. It has been wonderful to see many of our Boarders take on these opportunities and make themselves available to participate in these wonderful events. Ultimately, we all must recognise the privilege we enjoy and be willing to give back or support others. We would encourage all to find ways to do this in the coming months.

  • Unfortunately, as is with our GAP Tutor program, the conclusion of this term marks the end of a fabulous year for three of our current staff members, Senior GAP Tutor Macky, and our Junior GAP Tutors, Ollie and Ruan. All three have become integral members of both the Boarding and wider College Community, immersing themselves in all aspects of the College and have been wonderful mentors to many of our Boarders. We wish them all well in their future endeavours, whether it be heading to tertiary education, returning to the work place and, for all of them, spending time with their families after such a long absence. With their departures, we look forward to welcoming three new staff members to the Boarding Community next term -“ Arthur and Zac, who will commence as Junior GAP Tutors and Joshua as our second Senior GAP Tutor. All three will be with us by the time Term (3) commences in July.

  • The warmest congratulations to Cooper Atchison, Isaac Wareham, Toby Jennings, Kayne Councillor, Jack Tillig, Fraser Marris, Flynn Atchison and Liam O’Brien who were all members of the 1st XVIII football team that defeated Ballarat and Clarendon College in the BAS Grand Final on Wednesday. This now qualifies St Pat’s for the Herald Sun Semi Final in July. Further congratulations to all of our Boarders who played for the First and Second XVIII football squads, as well as Junior and Intermediate teams throughout the BAS season.

  • As part of our end of semester program you will be able to access your son’s Boarding report. We do hope you take the time to sit with your son and digest the various comments. This mid-year holiday can often be a valuable time to reflect upon the first half of the year and identify areas to improve and build upon in the coming months. We would add that it is prudent that our Year 12s do continue to study over the coming break. Whilst it is important to -‘recharge’ it is also critical to keep to good habits and routines. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your son’s semester with us please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • We wish all our Boarders well as they depart for the holiday period. We are so lucky to have our Boarders come to us from so many different parts of Australia (and international shores) that we always look forward to their stories upon their return. These vary from hunting, working on family farms or surfing on the beaches -“ whatever our Boarders get up to over the holiday period, we hope they enjoy the time with their families and friends and, above all, stay safe.
