Boarding Bulletin Board Term 2

News around the Boarding Precinct

  • It was wonderful to welcome several (day) -friends- to our annual -‘Bring a Friend To Boarding’ event. The celebration was kicked off with an -‘Amazing Race’ around the College Campus and surrounding venues where the participants had to find clues and claim bonus points by taking selfies -“ there were some very interesting and funny selfies produced!!

Everyone then enjoyed an American themed dinner with hot dogs, chicken wings, pizza, chips and iconic Mac’n’Cheese. This was then chased down with a chocolate iced donut, a fabulous way to end a sensational meal!!

The evening concluded with games in the gym, including a paper plane flight contest and balloon races.

We hope that all participants had an enjoyable time and look forward to making our next -‘version’ bigger and better again.

  • Edmund Rice Day proved to be a great celebration with all of our Boarders participating in the morning Mass and 11km walk around the College. The day finished up with students showcasing their talents at the -‘St Pat’s Has Talent’ concert. Special mention to Boarders, Alex Byeham who performed on the guitar, Ethan McLaren and James Richardson who were part of the Student Council performance.

  • Our congratulations to Mick Derrick (11) who was recently presented with the Police Spirit of Sport Award at the Redan Football Club, following his debut performance in the previous round. We are all very proud of Mick and what he is achieving both on and off the field.

  • A number of our Boarders are currently competing for spots across Interleague teams and we wish them well as they continue to pursue their sporting dreams.

  • On Monday 14th May, three of our Boarding Staff, along with two year 11 students, Josh Wilson-Stanton and Cooper Atchison, will be participating in the Australian Boarding Schools Association State Conference, to be held at Caulfield Grammar. The Conference will be focused around key note speaker, Michael Carr Gregg, who will be discussing topics on Mental Health Issues for Young People and Online Safety.

  • As part of National Boarding Week (13th -“ 19th May), the SPC Boarders are conducting a Winter Woolie Drive. We will be collecting donations of blankets and unused or unwanted clothing that will then be passed on to those less fortunate than ourselves. Any donations can be left at the College or in the Boarding Precinct.

  • Another exciting initiative for National Boarding Week is our upcoming -Open House- on Wednesday 16th May. We will be throwing open the doors of our beautiful new Precinct for all to come and have a look, ask questions and see how SPC Boarding is conducted. On this day, we will also welcome our College’s Student Council to spend the night in boarding, experiencing all that it has on offer. We are looking forward to sharing our day to day routines with those who lead our student community.
