Building blitz

December 11, 2016

Construction of the College’s new $1.1m Food Technology Centre is nearing completion just as the first soil is set to be shifted in the building of a new $5.3m Boarding Precinct in 2017.

The state-of-the-art new Food Technology Centre provides two massive new kitchen classrooms which will cater for the growing interest in the subject among boys of all ages.

The facility has been built outside the Boarders’ Dining Room, blocking off the road which once ran through the eastern side of the College.

The old Food Technology classroom, known as the Whelan Food Technology Centre in honour of Old Collegian Con Whelan (SPC 1921-25), has been stripped and will be converted into a new home for the VCAL curriculum in 2017.

St Patrick’s College Business Manager Mr Andrew Ballesty said it was an exciting time to be involved in an ever-expanding St Patrick’s College.

-The provision of these facilities provides greater opportunities for boys to learn a wider variety of subjects in the best classrooms possible,- Mr Ballesty said.

-Construction brings new life and excitement to the College and provides tangible proof that the College continues to improve its offerings for boys.

-We are thrilled to have the new Food Technology Centre open for 2017 and we are even more excited to get cracking on the new Boarding Precinct which represents the greatest capital investment the College has ever made in boarding.-

Once completed the new Boarding Precinct, located in the north west corner of the College, on the corner of Sturt and Alfred St, will house more than 90 full time boarders.
