Chris Nolan Academic Awards – Tuesday August 7

August 9, 2018

St Patricks College hosted the 11th Chris Nolan Academic Assembly on Tuesday August 7. This assembly highlights the academic success of over 250 students throughout Semester 1 2018. Students need to apply their effort to assessment tasks that can number as high as forty separate tasks over the duration of the semester. This is a significant undertaking and to receive a Chris Nolan Award for remaining in the top 15% of their year reflects a high level of consistent effort. We wholeheartedly appreciate and celebrate their achievements. Well done boys!

Additionally, this year we also recognised two further groups of awards; the Year 12 students who achieved the highest results in each subject in Semester 1 2018 and a new award, Education Perfect. Education Perfect is an online event that over 300,000 participated in this year. There are language and Humanities Championships. There were approximately 20 boys who all received gold, silver and bronze awards.

The Nolan family and friends are a driving force behind these awards. Chris Nolan was a very successful student at the College, across sporting and academic fields. After a viral illness that left Chris with significant disabilities, he shines as a great example of how you can continue to live your life fully, despite the obstacles. To see Chris’s face as he follows the many boys who walk across the stage at each Chris Nolan it is clear that he loves the College and celebrates seeing boys succeed. Thanks to Chris, his mother Mary and the Nolan family and friends who attend each assembly.

Finally, we would like to congratulate the families; over 200 family members attended the celebration. The interest and involvement that parents play in the learning success of our students is wonderful. This interest and engagement in their learning is also a crucial part in helping the students achieve success in learning. – Thank you all so much for attending on Tuesday. – Please- click on- this linkfor a list of all award recipients.
