Headmaster’s Message – Boarding Precinct News

September 13, 2016

Dear Old Collegians of St Patrick’s College,

It is with much excitement that I write with final confirmation that the planned construction of our new boarding precinct will proceed in 2017.

This week, the board of Edmund Rice Education Australia (our College’s governing body) met to formally approve our planned $5.3m development which will secure the future of boarding at St Patrick’s College for generations to come.

The College has been working tirelessly behind the scenes over the past six months to reach this point and, following similar approvals from both the City of Ballarat and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), we are now in a position to put the project to tender in the coming month. We anticipate that the building will be open and ready to house new boarders from the start of the 2018 school year. The building will feature three storeys, with the bottom floor initially being set aside as an undercroft recreation area to be fitted out in years to come as we work hard to increase the number of boarders on our grounds. Once full it will be home to 92 boarders.

The College is borrowing heavily to fund this crucial development and is also hoping to raise $1m from the generosity of its community to help pay for the building. To date, the College has raised $326,000 through the donations of many generous Old Boys. This money has been crucial in ensuring the success of the development.

I now ask all Old Boys to make a donation to ensure the tradition of boarding and excellence in boys’ education continues at St Patrick’s College for years to come.

All donations above $2 are tax deductible and all donors will be acknowledged in College publications. Donations of $500 or above will be acknowledged on a permanent honour board which will feature in the new boarding precinct.

Rarely in its history has St Patrick’s College ran such an important campaign or built such crucial facilities. We need your help to make sure it is successful.

Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so quite easily by contacting our Development Office on 5322 4450 or by clicking through to the College’s website at https://www.stpats.vic.edu.au/en/boarding/boarding-redevelopment/

I thank you in advance for your continued support of the College.
