OCA Kenya Experience

May 11, 2017

The St Patrick’s College Old Collegians Association wishes to explore the possibility of conducting an international mission trip to Kenya.

We are looking to partner with Camps International to offer our Old Collegians the opportunity to attend a three-week Mission Tour to Kenya in mid-to-late 2018.

This life-enhancing expedition will include living alongside rural communities, working on projects which could include helping to build classrooms, community centres, combat deforestation or protect wildlife. You will also have the opportunity to embark on a 3-day trek to Mt Kasigau and spend a few days on a jungle safari in the National Park.

Camps International have been delivering expeditions across Africa, Asia and South America since 2002, sending thousands of people abroad every year. They are an award-winning expedition provider, with an excellent reputation and safety record.

We have chosen to offer this opportunity of going on an expedition as we know the benefits not only to the community you will be supporting, but also as a fantastic opportunity for your own personal development.

You will gain a huge number of skills and experiences during fundraising activities and it’s an amazing opportunity for personal development and putting learning into practice. Whilst on expedition, you will have the opportunity to grow in self-confidence, improve communication and team building skills, and experience first-hand how much impact just one person can have on the world. The experiences and the memories you create will stay with you forever. You will also develop a range of experiences which will help when writing personal statements for university and employment applications.

It is anticipated that the cost of joining such a tour would be $6,680 per person.

This price includes flights, insurance,- accommodation, food, drink, language- lessons, cultural exchange, fundraising support, emergency support-¦ and much more!

Such an exciting opportunity can only proceed should we have enough Old Collegians interested in attending.

To determine if this is a feasible concept we are asking anyone interested to register their details at this link. Should we gain enough support we will then proceed with organising a formal information session to provide further details.

This could be a fantastic opportunity for an affordable and life-enriching experience.
