Teaching and Learning Report – May 30, 2019

May 29, 2019

It may have been a cold and wet week in Ballarat but that hasn’t stopped our boys and staff getting involved in a number of significant events!

Shrek The Musical

After five exceptional performances, the curtain was drawn on the 2019 St Patrick’s/Loreto production, Shrek The Musical, on Saturday evening. The cast drew wide acclaim from audiences who loved the quality and enthusiasm of their singing, dancing and acting. The musicians’ accompaniment brought each song to life and the crew did an outstanding job to ensure that the actors looked their best and were in the right place at the right time.

Careers Expo

Wednesday evening saw our annual SPC Careers Expo take place in the Old Collegians Pavilion. Many thanks to our Careers and Transition Manager, Mr Anthony Meehan, for his efforts in once again gathering a diverse range of- employer and training representatives for the benefit of our boys. Over 80 people from areas as varied as Accountancy through to Zoo Keeping shared their insights and knowledge to support the students on their vocational journey. I would like to make special note of the many Old Collegians who made themselves available for this gathering. Your attendance was very much appreciated.

30 Years Celebrations

As part of Catholic Education Week celebrations, the College will again host the Ballarat Diocese’s mass and dinner for staff who have worked for 30 years in Catholic education this Friday evening.

Four St Patrick’s College teachers will be recognised at this year’s dinner -“ Mr Tony Beggs, Mrs Jacinta Burge, Mr Howard Clark and Mr Michael Goss. How blessed we are to have four such committed members of staff who have given what is effectively most of their professional working lives to Catholic education. I thank each for their exceptional service and all they have done for the betterment of our students. –
