Wellbeing Report – June 7, 2018

June 6, 2018

  1. Contact details

There are times when we will need to contact you, including on the day if your child is absent and you haven’t informed the school as to why. Do we have your most up to date contact details?- If not, please contact the school on 5331 1688 so we can update our records. Alternatively, please log onto PAM and make the necessary updates yourself. – Please include parent/carers’ name, address, phone numbers, email address and emergency contact details. Please remember to contact the school if any of these details or your circumstances change.

  1. Notify the school of your child’s absence

Protecting the safety and well-being of children through the reporting and monitoring of absenteeism is the responsibility of both parents/carers and schools.

Please remember to call the school on 5331 1688 early in the morning if your child is going to be away or late for school so your child’s absence can be recorded correctly.

  1. Same-day notification of unexplained student absences

An SMS text message will be automatically sent to the mobile phones of parents explaining that our records show that your son is absent from the College.

The message will read as follows:

St Patrick’s 08A records show JOHN SMITH is absent or did not obtain a late pass today 02/02/18. Please contact College on +61353311688.

The message will arrive on your phone displaying the number, 0417 200 063. Parents should store this number in their mobile phone under <ST PATS SMS> so that when the message arrives, the parent is aware the message has come from the College.

Parents can then reply by using SMS or by phoning the College office. If you phone the College you will be directed to leave a message on our voicemail system. Please remember to leave your son’s name, pastoral care group and a reason for his absence. You may also leave a message stating your son was late to school and did not obtain a late pass.

– A note should accompany your son on his return to the College, as is the normal practice.- If your son is absent but a reason has been provided, then parents should not receive an SMS.-

As part of the process the SMS text message will be automatically sent to the mobile number listed under Parent Contact One on the Student Information Form.- If this is not suitable please contact the College to nominate your preferred number.

Save this number! Our school uses SMS to contact parents/carers as soon as practical on the day on an unexplained student absence. Save this number 5331 1688 into your phone so you know it is the school contacting you if you receive a text.
