Friends of St Patrick's College

The St Patrick’s College Friends of St Patrick's College has been established to assist the College in providing high quality teaching and learning facilities and educational experiences for all current and future students. Each year the FoSP make a number of funding allocations to support projects that are consistent with the philosophy of the College and directly benefit a significant proportion of students in the short and long term.

The purpose of these guidelines is to establish a clear procedure and rationale for funding allocations. This will assist parties wishing to make a funding application as well as guide the FoSP in their decision making processes.

Mission

Friends of St Patrick's role is;

  • To support the College Community and to foster Catholic Values in the tradition of Edmund Rice.
  •  To enhance the education and welfare of the students and their families
(this may be in the way of financial support or social interaction).
  •  Be seen as a welcoming body for parents.

 Objectives
The purpose for which the FoSP is established are reflected in the Association’s Mission Statement. More specifically they include:

1.1   To assist the College in providing first class educational facilities for St. Patrick’s College students.
1.2   To engage in fundraising activities to provide improved facilities for students of the College.
1.3   To support the activities of groups within the College engaged in specific events or educational programmes.
1.4   To provide social opportunities for parents and friends to help develop a genuine sense of community within the College.
1.5   To provide a medium whereby Parents and Friends’ views, ideas and concerns can be raised with representatives of the school’s management team.
1.6   To act as a body that represents the College in a positive manner
1.7   To have input into other committees of St. Patrick’s College where requested.

2.      Guidelines for Operation of FoSP

2.1    Membership
Membership of the FoSPis open to all members of the general community considered to be either current or past parents of the College, current of past teachers of the College, past students of the College or friends of the College who respect the College and its philosophy of Catholic education for boys.

2.2       Committee of the Friends of St Patrick's College

P&F must be consistent with the philosophy of St. Patrick’s College.  As a Committee of St. Patrick’s College it is an expectation that the Association through its actions or words will not publicly be viewed as being in conflict with the College on issues relating to the Catholic philosophy of the College.  The P&F should ensure that it communicates regularly with the College, via the Deputy Headmaster.

Activities

The FoSP annually conduct a number of successful functions and events to support the operations of the College, including:

  • Year 7 new family welcome dinners - Ballarat and Bacchus Marsh
  • Year 12 Farewell BBQ
  • Annual Family Trots Night
  • Annual Major Raffle
  • Provision of support to College families in need through cooked meals, cleaning, transport and other support
