We are delighted to share the news that Brigadier Shaun James Hoffmann (SPC 1985-87) was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Military Division in the recent 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List.
The award formally recognises his exceptional service and leadership within the Australian Defence Force, especially for his exceptional performance of duty as the Director General of Land Manoeuvre Systems.
In his capacity as Director General, Brigadier Hoffmann is responsible for overseeing the acquisition, sustainability, and management of the Australian Government Directory’s land combat vehicles and manoeuvre systems within the Department of Defence.
The King’s Birthday 2026 Honours List reads Brigadier Hoffmann has been recognised for his “exceptional performance and inspiring leadership in key acquisition and sustainment roles within the Land Systems Division has directly contributed to achieving the accelerated delivery of priority warfighting capabilities for the Australian Defence Force”.
“His efforts are of strategic significance and have been instrumental in advancing Australia’s air and missile defence, protected mobile fires system, and long-range strike capabilities at an accelerated rate, meeting the objectives of the National Defence Strategy”.
Brigadier Hoffmann was inducted as a College Legend in 2015 for his services to the military. Shaun was a boarder at SPC from Horsham and active in school life.
He was a member of the First XVIII Football team in 1987. He won the Most Improved Award and was a close fifth in the Best and Fairest awards. An excerpt in the 1987 College Annual reads while Shaun was “physically light but has loads of courage and is a great winner of the ball at all costs”.
Shaun was also a member of the Second XVIII Football team, Third XI Cricket team and was also part of the school’s Athletic Team as a talented runner.
