Denis Faulkner (SPC 1949-57, PY1959)

Denis Francis Faulkner (SPC 1949-57, PY1959) sadly passed away on 1 June 2025 and a memorial service will be held at the Ballarat Golf Club on 17 June 2025 at 2pm.

We extend our condolences to his daughter Sarah, partner June and extended family. Tributes spoke fondly of Denis as “a true gentleman, fine sportsman and warm friend”. He was also remembered for his involvement as a dedicated volunteer at the Ballarat Golf Club, his many nights running with the Ballarat Sovereign Hash House Harriers, sharing excellent wines and his great stories.

“We will remember Denis as always happy, so fit, active and involved,” one of the recent tributes read.

Denis was a day student at SPC, starting in Second Grade in 1949 and completing his Intermediate A studies. He attended SPC with his four brothers Michael (SPC 1947-53, PY1958), Barry (SPC 1953-60, PY1963), John (SPC 1966-67, PY1970) and Peter (SPC 1967-70, PY1972) and has two sisters, Faye and Annette.

Denis was in Nunan’s premiership team in 1955 in the Shed competition and was also a member of the Guard platoon, which were winners of the Lt-Gen Secombe Trophy in 1956.

Denis was a member of the Nunan House premiership side.

After leaving SPC, it is understood Denis worked in as a manager of the shoe department at Myer Ballarat for some time before branching out and owning his own shoe shop in Ballarat’s busy Sturt Street.
