Midfield star Jordan Lauton (SPC 2015-20) shared some of his monster moves with our senior students during his visit earlier this week.
Jordan, who is lighting up the soccer stage for Western United and won Goal of the Year at the A-League Awards last season, called in to the College to check out his framed soccer guernsey which will proudly adorn our walls, inspiring our next generation of young soccer stars.
Jordan notably won Goal of the Year at the A-League Dolan Warren Awards with one of the best 95th-minute winners. The 21-year-old’s bicycle kick ghosted into the box for the ‘goal of a lifetime’ in just his sixth professional appearance at the time.
Jordan said he was pretty chuffed that his framed guernsey will hang alongside his brother Brandon’s (SPC 2012-17) guernsey. Brandon made his professional debut for Melbourne Victory and is now playing with the Preston Lions.
Jordan is busy in preseason preparing for the season starting in October. He said he has moved to Melbourne and is sharing a house with two teammates, so that he’s closer to training.
He said it was a “pretty cool feeling” to win the Goal of the Year award.
“It’s nice to win something like that,” the extremely modest midfielder said.
Jordan also returned recently to catch up with former classmates at his Class of 2020 Five-Year Reunion in Ballarat in June.
Thank you Jordan for calling in to visit, you are an amazing role model to our aspiring sporting students!
