St Patrick’s College’s student leaders have stepped away from their usual routines and into a day designed to challenge, inspire and equip them for the year ahead.
Members of the Student Council and Student Congress embraced the opportunity to grow in both confidence and capability, participating in a dynamic workshop on Friday, 27 February.
Facilitated by the experienced team from Crazy Ideas College, the Leadership bootcamp began by exploring a fundamental question: What does effective leadership look like at St Patrick’s College? Through guided discussion and collaborative activities, students built a shared understanding of the attitudes and behaviours that reflect the College’s pillars of Faith, Tradition, Excellence and Joy.
Throughout the day, students were encouraged to reflect deeply on their own leadership style and strengths. They considered how they can draw on the gifts of others, recognising that strong leadership is not about standing alone, but about empowering a team.
In small groups, students identified opportunities to launch meaningful personal and collective initiatives that will positively shape our school community in 2026. A highlight of the session was the co-creation of a shared leadership “trademark” — a practical recipe for success that captures the character and example they aspire to model.
Each student completed a personalised Leadership Canvas, outlining clear next steps and a practical leadership experiment to put into action. They left the workshop not only inspired but equipped with concrete strategies to lead with purpose.
Assistant Principal Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Jarrett Giampaolo said the workshop presented a fantastic opportunity for students to come together, collaborate and contribute to the year ahead.
“The program encouraged students to reflect deeply on their personal leadership styles and to recognise how their individual strengths combine to form a cohesive and effective leadership team. This experience will be invaluable in guiding our leaders as they navigate their roles throughout the year,” he said.
“We are incredibly grateful to Zoe and Sarah for their outstanding facilitation. Their natural rapport with the students, combined with their engaging and supportive approach, created an environment where every student felt comfortable to participate, reflect, and grow. Their guidance played a significant role in making the day both meaningful and impactful for all involved.”
Year 12 student and Justice and Solidarity Leader Archer Mohr said, “it was fantastic to get on the same page with all the other leaders here at St Pat’s and strive towards a united goal for 2026. I’m looking forward to working with them across the year and making a positive impact together this year.”
