2015 Academic Assembly

At the 2015 Academic Assembly on Friday, February 20, the College welcomed back each student from the Class of 2014 who had scored an ATAR of above 90 or who had been named as a subject dux.

It soon became evident that 2014 College dux Hamish Clydesdale had many academically gifted classmates in 2014 and the following boys were presented a VCE Achievement of Excellence Award in recognition of their efforts in attaining an ATAR of 90 and above:

To conclude the acknowledgement of the academic successes of the class of 2014, the assembly recognised those boys who received the inaugural Victorian Certificate of Education (Baccalaureate).

The Victorian Certificate of Education (Baccalaureate) was introduced to support the State Government’s objectives to encourage more students to include languages and higher level mathematics in their senior secondary program of study.

To be eligible for the Victorian Certificate of Education (Baccalaureate) a student had to achieve a study score of 30 and above in the their chosen study of English, satisfactorily complete a Units 3/4 sequence in either Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics and satisfactorily complete a Units 3/4 sequence in a VCE Language (Japanese here at St Patrick’s).

The inaugural Victorian Certificate of Education (Baccalaureate) was awarded to St Patrick’s students Hamish Clydesdale, Ashley Duffy, Matthew Hall, Thomas Keogh and Peter Leighton.
