2015 Night of Homelessness

May 31, 2015

St Patrick’s College Year 10 students have learned first-hand what it’s like to be homeless in Ballarat after participating in the College’s annual Night of Homelessness last Thursday night.

Around 260 students arrived with their warmest winter clothers and were issued with a light blanket in the College’s canteen area before being told to try and find somewhere in the College grounds to sleep for the night.

The weather wasn’t friendly with cold, wet conditions prevailing meaning all boys were scrambling to find anywhere warm and undercover to spend the night.-

The aim of the event is to give students, aged 15 or 16, a full appreciation of what it is like to be homeless on the streets of Ballarat and to raise their awareness of this growing societal issue.
