SPC 1 – Defeated by BCC – 6

A cold and windy evening greeted SPC Blue at Morshead Park on Wednesday. With a number of players out due to injury it was going to be a tough proposition facing up to an inform BCC. Clarendon quickly set the tempo and were keen to address the loss they had suffered from SPC Blue in their last encounter. Their technical expertise and physicality put us on the back foot and despite a solid defensive structure Clarendon was able to put away four goals before half time. SPC Blue had periods of quality football retaining possession and utilising the ball well in midfield. – It was the final pass into are attack which broke down providing us with very little opportunity in front of goals.

James Parini and Alex Baker had exceptional games in midfield as did Evan Green and Riley Peters in defence. Sam Laidlaw as always gave his best in goals and his courage is something to be admired putting his body on the line in a number of 1:1 situations. Mitchell Smith deserves a mention for his work rate in the midfield as does Conor McKee and Oliver Richardson. It was pleasing that the players hard work resulted in a marvellous goal from Paddy Collier in the last five minutes of the game. It is also worth noting that despite the score line I was very impressed with the players persistence and endeavour. They should be proud of their effort and it is hoped that next week they can finish on a positive note which they deserve.
