The 2016 year has started in smooth fashion at St Patrick’s College with more than 1400 boys arriving at school full of hopes and ambitions for a great year ahead.

Headmaster John Crowley, at a full school assembly in the Br W.T. O’Malley Sports Centre, welcomed the more than 250 new students who walked through the famous College gates for the first time today.

Mr Crowley paid homage to the College’s tradition of hospitality, ensuring all new students (and new staff) were properly welcomed into the SPC community.

A traditional gesture of welcome at the first school assembly of the year involved the current Year 12s entering the sports centre while walking alongside the new Year 7 students.-

Mr Crowley said he was confident of a busy and fruitful year ahead for St Patrick’s College and outlined plans for the construction of a new $1m Food Technology Centre and a $3.9m state-of-the-art boarding precinct.

A special welcome was also afforded to incoming Deputy Headmaster – Wellbeing Mr Gerard Sullivan who had the opportunity to meet many students for the first time today.
