Acting Principal’s Message

March 6, 2020

By Acting Principal, Mr Stephen Hill

This week’s visit from Wayne Tinsey, EREA Executive Director, and Durm O’Riordan, EREA Regional Director – Southern.

As I have previously communicated to you, Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) remains committed to being present and attentive to the needs of all members of the St Patrick’s College community as we respond to challenges arising from John Crowley’s decision to accept EREA’s invitation to take up the position of Acting Principal of St Kevin’s College for the remainder of 2020.

This week, Dr Wayne Tinsey, EREA Executive Director, and Mr Durm O’Riordan, EREA Regional Director – Southern attended the College, meeting with the College Board on Thursday evening and the College staff and Leadership Team on Friday morning.

Previously, John Crowley had indicated that in accepting the position of Acting Principal of St Kevin’s College that he would not be returning to St Patrick’s College as Principal. Wayne today announced that John Crowley has formally submitted his resignation from St Patrick’s College.

EREA will now start the process of appointing the next Principal of St Patrick’s College. Durm O’Riordan will be working with the community in the coming weeks to oversee this process, commencing next week. The role will be advertised nationally with EREA considering it their key immediate appointment priority. A major part of the appointment process involves in-depth community consultation with representatives of our staff, students, parents and committee members. Again, this consultation process will be managed by Durm O’Riordan.

Currently, it is anticipated that the announcement of the appointment of the next Principal of St Patrick’s College will occur in the second half of Term 2.

Regards

Mr Stephen Hill

Acting Principal
