Immunisations

Changes to the vaccine program

In 2015 major changes to the vaccine program will impact on parents of secondary school students.

1. In 2015 only, the vaccine that protects against diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough will be offered to all students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10. From 2016, this vaccine will be offered to Year 7 students only. This will provide earlier protection from these diseases.

2. The time-limited human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine program for Year 9 boys was completed in December 2014. HPV vaccine will continue to be offered to all students (both male and female) in Year 7 from 2015.

To learn more about the changes, the diseases, the vaccines, or how you can prepare your child for vaccination go to www.immunehero.health.vic.gov.au

Year 7 students will have their 2nd round of immunisation injections on Wednesday May 20 and the third round later in the year. Years 8 and 9 students will receive their immunisations in term 3.

Senior School Examinations

The Year 10 exams begin on Tuesday June 2 and the Year 11 exams on Wednesday June 3 and finish on Thursday June 11. Students are required to attend the college for their exam times only. If a student wishes to be on campus to study they may use the resources in the KRC or an allocated study room if available. Please refer to the attached schedule for the examination timetables.

Students who are currently studying a VCE Unit 3 subject are to remain in their scheduled class and arrange an alternative exam time through their Year Level Coordinators. The exception to this is any English Faculty exams which have extended examination times where students will be required to sit the examination at the set time.

The GAT will be held on Wednesday June 10 and all students studying a VCE Unit 3/4 subject in 2015 will be required to attend this exam. There will be no exams scheduled for Years 10 or 11 and the available time will be for any student required to do a catch-up exam.
