Ballarat: Our Future

Ballarat City Council is developing a range of new medium and long-term plans and needs the community to help set the direction.  Everyone has something that they are passionate about and now is the time to share thoughts and ideas. There are multiple ways to be involved:

  • Surveys on the Ballarat: Our Future MySay page
  • Hosting or joining a conversation on our Day of a Thousand Conversations. You can do this with one other person, a small group of friends or family or with your club, group or class (Download Conversation Kit). Host a conversation and go in the draw to win one of five $100 gift vouchers.
  • Attending one of our Community Conversations in a park near you (View Key Dates)

We want to hear from as many people as possible. If you have any questions about the community engagement process please contact communityengagement@ballarat.vic.gov.au or call 5320 5500 and ask to speak with someone from the Community Participation team.

VLine – Ararat Line New Timetable

A new timetable is being introduced on the Ararat line from  Sunday 31 January which includes the addition of a fifth weekday service to Ararat.

The times of other Ararat services have been changed to enable the new service to be introduced while maintaining an even spread of services to Ararat throughout the day.

We’re writing to you because there may be students who catch the train to and from Beaufort or Ararat to attend your school.

The train towards Ararat in the mid-afternoon has been moved earlier and will now depart from Ballarat and Wendouree before students are able to make it to the station if they leave school at normal times.

To ensure students still have an option to travel, we will be trialling a dedicated student coach service which will depart Ballarat at 3:55pm, pick up at Wendouree at 4:10pm and proceed to Beaufort (4:50pm) and Ararat (5:24pm).

Please pass this information on to any students who use V/Line services to travel to or from Beaufort or Ararat.

VLine apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and  thank students and their guardians for their understanding while they worked on a solution that would allow students to return home from school.
