Boarding Bulletin Board

October 14, 2021

Welcome back to all our Boarders and their families as we begin what will hopefully be a less interrupted Term 4. While we are eagerly awaiting the date that we can all return to face-to-face learning, our Boarding students are to be commended for the way they have adapted to the staggered return to school.

Again, we congratulate Toby Martin, Brayden Purchase and Ed de Salis who were officially recognised as the 2022 Boarding Leaders at the recent Transfer of Leadership Ceremony. Unfortunately, Toby was unable to attend and while we were unable to be there physically, we look forward to the release of the filmed event so that we can enjoy watching Brayden and Ed, receive their badges.

Congratulations to current Year 12 student, Xavier Hayter who was announced the winner of the St Patrick’s College ‘In Civitatem’ Award. This award recognises a Boarding student who has selflessly given for the greater good to all living within the Boarding Community. The Boarding student who receives the award has consistently acted in such a way to improve the Boarding experience for all. Xavier has been a constant participator in all our activities, of a weekend and as part of our Social Justice Program. Congratulations Xavier.

This weekend past, we were very lucky to be welcomed by Ballarat’s Ten Pin Bowling Centre to allow our Boarders to be out and about and participating in something a bit different than what has been the norm. Some certainly found that bowling was a game for them, some took the game a bit more seriously than others, but all enjoyed the opportunity to have a bowl.

A message from Mr Mike Silcock, Director of Boarding

Regrettably, we must cancel this Friday’s ‘Term (4) Family Dinner / Year12 Boarders’ Leaving Mass and Dinner’ for the second consecutive year. Under current COVID restrictions, we are simply not able to run this event. In its place, as we did last year, we shall be hosting a special dinner for our Year12 Boarding students and Boarding staff next Tuesday night (October 19), ahead of our Year 12’s final day (Wednesday, October 20). While we are not able to invite you, their parents and guardians, we could not let this significant moment pass without some form of celebration. I will ensure photos are taken and posted to our Boarding Facebook page after the event. This has been another challenging year for our Boarders, especially our senior Boarders, who have not been able to do all that we and they would have wished.
