Boarding Bulletin Board

October 20, 2022

by Director of Boarding, Mr Brendon Gilbert

Dear boarding families,

I am delighted to write to you following a lovely House Presentation. After two COVID interrupted years that broke down many communities, it was terrific to be able to gather and celebrate our year. The night provided an opportunity to reflect on our young people’s achievements and celebrate the contribution our Year 12s have made to our College and Boarding communities. I feel incredibly proud to be involved in a boarding community where so many young people are prepared to spread themselves across many areas of the school to contribute to the life of the College. Although there could only be ten award winners, many of our boarders put themselves in a position to be considered for various awards.

House Presentation Awards

Citizenship Award – This is presented to students who have contributed positively to the boarding community through their respectful interactions with others and general willingness to do what is right. To be a good citizen is to demonstrate a positive attitude every day.

  • Junior Citizenship – Marc Tedcastle
  • Senior Citizenship – Brayden Purchase

Service Award – This is presented to students who have shown a constant willingness to help others, whether they be fellow boarders, members of staff or the wider community.

  • Junior Service Award – Tom Bolger
  • Senior Service Award – Jack James

Co-curricular Award – This is presented to students who have demonstrated excellence in various areas, including sports, performing arts and leadership, within the College and the wider community.

  • Junior Co-curricular – Lincoln Koliba
  • Senior Co-curricular – Edward De Salis

Academic Award – This is presented to students who have achieved brilliant academic results throughout the year. These students have shown an ability to utilise their study sessions effectively, and it is no surprise that they have reaped the benefits of such excellent work ethic through their assessment scores in the day school.

  • Junior Academic – Hugo Johnston
  • Senior Academic – Lachie Fazzolari

General Excellence Award – This is presented to students that have excelled in many areas of College life. Always willing to take on new opportunities, these students have proven themselves excellent role models, demonstrating a willingness to test themselves and step outside their comfort zones.

  • Junior General Excellence – Lachie Belleville
  • Senior General Excellence – Eric Yang

Year 12 Farwell

Although our Year 12s will still be in the boarding house during the coming weeks for exams, they completed their last day of school on Wednesday, 19 October. The boarding community is incredibly proud of the Year 12 boarders. These boys have been outstanding leaders and role models for their peers, and it has been a pleasure for the boarding staff to work with them in 2022 to bring life back to boarding. Through their commitment and dedication to the boarding program, they have grown immensely into excellent young men, ready to take on the next chapter of their lives. On behalf of the boarding community, I wish our Year 12 all the best for the upcoming exams, and we look forward to hearing about all the good things they will do and achieve in the future years.

Best wishes,

The Boarding Team
