Carmichael footballing success all in the family

We were delighted to learn of a SPC connection when Josh Carmichael was recently selected to make his debut for Collingwood earlier this season.

It turns out Josh’s father, Wayne, pictured above, was the Captain of St Patrick’s College’s unbeaten First XVIII Football team in 1978. Wayne, a boarder from Ouyen, enjoyed much success in his sport at SPC, particularly in his final year in 1978.

We take a trip down memory lane to remember some of Wayne’s own successes at SPC.

Wayne Carmichael was also a member (and newcomer to the sport) of the A Grade Squash team in 1978.
