Etch your name into the future of performing arts at St Patrick’s College

November 2, 2023

St Patrick’s College is excited to announce a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of performing arts at the school.

As our $20 million Performing Arts Centre nears completion, the College is offering alumni, current families and friends of St Patrick’s College a one-off chance to ‘buy a seat’ in the upper level of the auditorium.

With just 250 seats available, St Patrick’s College business manager Andrew Jirik said the offer was a unique opportunity to be part of St Pat’s history.

Contributions of $1,000 for front row seating or $500 for general seating would be acknowledged with a personalised plaque on a seat in the upper level of the auditorium.

“St Patrick’s College has a long and rich history in the performing arts – in music, drama, public speaking and debating. The 2024 opening of the $20 million Performing Arts Centre underpins our ongoing commitment to the performing arts for generations of students to come,” he said.

“Boasting an 835-seat auditorium with a mixture of permanent and retractable seating, a black box theatre, three ensemble and teaching spaces, five tuition rooms and state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment, the Performing Arts Centre will provide students, staff and the wider community with outstanding spaces to learn, teach, perform and celebrate.”

Designed by award-winning John Wardle Architects and being built by Ballarat’s own Nicholson Construction, the Performing Arts Centre is expected to be completed in December and ready for use in 2024.

Principal Steven O’Connor said he was incredibly excited about the new Performing Arts Centre, which received $2 million in State Government funding.

“I am very proud of the many wonderful resources and programs already in place at St Pat’s. We enjoy a tremendous history and reputation, for example, for the strength of our sporting programs and the success we achieve through these,” he said.

“We are, however, committed to providing a holistic or well-rounded education to all of our students and the Performing Arts Centre will provide us with an incredible resource in the important area of the creative and performing arts to do so.”
