We extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Old Collegian George Dolan (SPC 1943-45) who sadly passed away on 8 August, 2022 in Wantirna, Victoria and is survived by his wife of 32 years Judith and extended family.
George is remembered as a quiet and easygoing gentleman who appreciated the opportunity to attend school at SPC and was a boarder from the family farm in Ouyen.
George was a talented sportsman and his family remembers George credited his love of sport for his long life. George was aged 92 years at the time of his passing.
He enjoyed playing handball, football and cricket at SPC.
After leaving SPC, George played reserves for the Essendon Football Club until he had to stop due to injury.
He was also a talented batsman for Nunawading and still retains the record for the highest club runs.
George was also a champion lawn bowler for Mitcham and Heatherdale.
After leaving SPC, George became an engineer, working for PMG, which later became Telstra. He retired at the age of 60 years.
He married and had four children with his first wife and enjoyed a very happy life with his second wife Judith for another 32 years, enjoying overseas holidays, concerts and then smaller day trips as George’s health declined due to the onset of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
