He enjoyed playing handball, football and cricket at SPC.

After leaving SPC, George played reserves for the Essendon Football Club until he had to stop due to injury.

He was also a talented batsman for Nunawading and still retains the record for the highest club runs.

George was also a champion lawn bowler for Mitcham and Heatherdale.

After leaving SPC, George became an engineer, working for PMG, which later became Telstra. He retired at the age of 60 years.

He married and had four children with his first wife and enjoyed a very happy life with his second wife Judith for another 32 years, enjoying overseas holidays, concerts and then smaller day trips as George’s health declined due to the onset of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
