July 20, 2021 – College update on COVID-19

July 20, 2021

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians of St Patrick’s College,

Sadly, the State Government has this morning announced a continuation of the lockdown period as Victoria aims to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.

The lockdown is now due to be lifted at 11.59pm on Tuesday, July 27.

Throughout this period, we will offer on-site supervision for those students whose parents are deemed essential workers or who are classified as being at-risk, from tomorrow. Parents who require their sons to be supervised on-site must register their attendance by filling in the form at this link.

Our hope and intention is to return to in-class learning for all students as soon as we are permitted.

Remote and flexible learning will continue to be conducted via Microsoft Teams. To enable our teachers some time to plan for the extended lockdown over the week ahead, no classes during sessions 7 and 8 will be offered tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday, July 21) from 1.10pm. Please note timetabled sessions 1 to 6 will run as normal tomorrow via our online environment.

The Academic Assembly which was scheduled to be held on Tuesday, July 27 will be rescheduled, at this stage, to Tuesday, August 17.

The Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews scheduled for Tuesday, July 27 will proceed as planned in an online environment.

The delayed General Achievement Test (GAT) was rescheduled from last term to be held on Thursday, July 29. The College will provide full and updated information around this important event to affected students and their families as soon as it is made available.

During the lockdown period students will only be able to access the College through the front gates and will need to sign in at reception. All other gates will be locked. Student supervision will be conducted in the Year 12 Study Centre. Attending students must wear masks and practice safe social distancing. The canteen will be closed and students will not be permitted to leave the College during the school day.

College reception will remain open for normal operating hours although the College Shop will be closed.

Once again, we thank you for your patience, support and understanding along with your commitment to joining us as we offer the best education possible for our students, even in these most difficult of times.

We hope you stay safe and well in the coming days.
