June 5 – College Update on COVID-19 for Years 7-10

June 5, 2020

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians of boys in Years 7 to 10,

We hope this email finds you and your family safe and well. We are very much looking forward to welcoming your son back on Tuesday June 9, and just wanted to keep you informed about arrangements for the long-awaited return to school for our students, to help you prepare over the weekend.

While many aspects of school life will remain unchanged, in terms of work ethic, behavioural expectations, commitment to learning and striving to give of one’s best, circumstances dictate that we do not return to the same environment we left at the end of Term One. Most of the changes are organisational and procedural to ensure the safety of all members of the St Patrick’s College Community. More detailed information is available via the Crest Newsletter and at this link.

Can we please ask that over the weekend you take the time to sit with your son and ensure he is well prepared for the return to regular classroom learning next Tuesday. A good starting point will be to take stock of his stationery and exercise books. Please ensure he packs his dust coat and safety glasses and that he brings PE gear if he is timetabled to have PE.  All students will need their own, clearly named water bottle that can be refilled. All bubble taps have been disabled and new refilling stations installed.

The function of the canteen is best summed up in the notice that appeared on the College homepage this morning:

Canteen Update

As St Patrick’s College continues to manage a staged return to normal practices, we are pleased to announce some further changes to the services of the College canteen.

Effective immediately, the canteen will re-open at recess and lunchtime in a cashless setting for students wishing to buy a limited range of pre-packaged items such as pies, dim sims, sausage rolls, drinks etc.

Tap and go payments will be the only payment method accepted at the canteen window.

Students wishing to pre-order lunch items which are required to be made on-site, such as salad rolls, wraps, chicken burgers etc, must continue to do so before 4pm on the day prior via the Ultimate Schools online booking system.

The College also reiterates that at a time in which we are limiting the number of people on-site, students are not permitted to arrange external deliveries such as Uber Eats onto College grounds. Students are also reminded that they are not permitted to leave the College Campus during school time unless parental permission is given to the College.

We hope you all have an enjoyable long weekend, and we look forward to welcoming your son back to the College on Tuesday. Please contact your son’s pastoral care tutor if you have any further questions.

Yours sincerely

Mike Silcock

Director of Students
