Grade 5 Catholic Primary School visits

Over the past couple of weeks, we have had our annual Grade 5 transition visits to SPC. Our future students enjoyed a tour of the college and participated in a number of classes such as Wood Technology, Physical Education, Science and Food Technology. A big thank you to Caitlin Bennett and Roger Le Grand for all their organisation prior to the week as well as the staff who took lessons on the day.

The following Year 7 boys acted as tour guides throughout the week. Finn Maldonado, Liam Riding, Xavier Hall, Blake Roberts, Oliver Quick, Josh Mulat, Red Ward, Will Vanderkley, Riley Huebner and Brodie Stephens, thank you and well done boys on your leadership and advice.

Year 8 Loreto Interaction/Health Day

On Tuesday, September 6 we co-hosted the Year 8 Loreto Interaction/Health Day, which hasn’t been run since 2019 due to Covid -19 restrictions. The day commenced with both cohorts listening to inspiring guest presenter “Ben the Bandit”, he spoke about his struggles in life, as he was born with no arms, and the resilience he has displayed to enjoy a successful life. Ben spoke about the opportunities he still has in his life and how simple things like dressing himself, writing, eating have been overcome from a young age. The positive mindset that he approaches day to day life with was infectious and he highlighted the importance of always having something to look forward to.

After the recess break, the students were placed in their groups and enjoyed a number of activities run by third and fourth Year Education Students from Federation University. These activities were held both at SPC and Loreto. All students enjoyed the chance to mix and, in some cases, re-connect with friends from primary school. A big thank you to the staff from both schools, but in particular to Janelle Spierings and Brianah Walsh for their efforts prior to and on the day, and Federation University for all their work to ensure all went smoothly.
