A collective effort!

Congratulations and well done to everyone on your efforts over the past seven weeks. I particularly want to acknowledge the boys and their families for all you have done during Remote Learning. In a time of much uncertainty one thing that has been reiterated is that as parents, you are the primary educator of your children and the combined effort of “home” with the support of teachers, enhanced learning, learning support officers, IT department, the College’s wellbeing team (counsellors, REC) and office staff have all had a role to play in the educational journey of your son in Term 3 at St Patrick’s. Without the combined effort of all, the learnings from Term 3, both in and out of the classroom, would not have been possible. A sincere thank you to everyone.

Staff movements

The College community wishes Gerry & Jenny Willis all the best for their long service leave in Term 4. Both have been long term Junior staff members at SPC and have well and truly earnt their rest. Brendan Dix, who many will know from working at SPC earlier in the year, will replace Gerry, whilst Jenny’s load will be taken up by three people, these being Carly Twaits, Andrea Romeo and Nadeera Jayasinghe.

In Term 4 we also welcome Brett Earl back after a few weeks of long service leave in Term 3 and no doubt he will be refreshed and ready to go.

The College also welcomes Louise Brennan, who is replacing Noel Bamford in Term 4. We thank Noel for his efforts in 2020 as he and his family return to the UK for family reasons.

Remote Learning 2.0

I wrote in the Week 8 edition of the Crest that many learnings from this year will be implemented into the future, be it in the home, workplace and society in general. These changes and improvements apply to all fields of work not just schools. The article below is well worth a read and I strongly encourage you to take five minutes and reflect on what the experience of remote learning has been in your household.

Key dates

The College calendar is very fluid at the moment to say the least! Please continue to keep an eye out on the College’s website and Facebook page for official correspondence, as well as your emails.

Term 4

A reminder that week 1 of term 4 (Monday, October 5) will see remote learning continue. The first day of “on site” learning will be Monday, October 12 (week 2), please ensure your son has College shorts to wear.

Regards,

Mr Gavin Webb
