Junior School Report – October 17, 2019
October 17, 2019
A very big, warm welcome to all staff and students for what is sure to be another busy term at St. Patrick’s College, particularly in the Junior School. I would like to begin my acknowledging Mr. John Richards, who is on Long Service Leave (LSL) in Term 4. John has been the Director of the Junior School for fourteen years. His leadership and support over the years has been tremendous and he will no doubt enjoy his time off, especially as his wife, Maria Richards (Enhanced Learning Co-ordinator), is also on LSL. We look forward to seeing them both in 2020!
The first two weeks back has been relatively smooth as students and staff clearly had had a refreshing holiday. Thanks, must go to the Year Level Co-Ordinator’s (Yr 7 & 8), Pastoral Tutor’s and all subject teacher’s in the Junior School. Having engaging lessons, being well organised and displaying a passion for their subject was evident to see throughout the first two weeks. The boy’s enthusiasm and diligence hopefully is maintained as the term progresses. There are many assessment tasks that will be due in the coming weeks so make sure you son is organised and has a regular homework study schedule. This will prepare him well for exam week, which is the last week of school (Dec 2-6).
I would like to acknowledge the Enhanced Learning team, under the guidance of Melissa Delaland, who ran the Grade Six Testing Day, on Saturday, October 12. This is a huge undertaking, especially on a Saturday. It was great to meet the Year 7 cohort of 2020.
There are still plenty of extra-curricular activities available in Term 4, be it sport, performing arts or social justice. The boys need to listen to the morning messages carefully and check their emails to find out what is happening around the place.
