School Library Association of Victoria Ballarat Branch

This week we were delighted to host the School Library Association of Victoria (SLAV) Ballarat Branch meeting; the first meeting of these librarians since COVID struck last year. It was wonderful to see this group together, actively networking, sharing ideas and exchanging valued experiences and opinions about all things libraries. The KRC staff were proud to showcase our newly refurbished reading area, our genrefied Fiction Collection, and our new shelving modules.  This highlighted to us the importance of continued collaboration between professionals in our field, and much of what was discussed will assist us in continuing to provide a relevant collection and physical environment for the boys of St Patrick’s College.

The afternoon began with light refreshments being provided and after a robust conversation and sharing session, we finished with a tour of the KRC.  We were very happy to learn from other library professionals as well as draw upon our expertise and experience.  This does reinforce with us the value of boys’ discussing their own learning and knowledge as they self-reflect and evaluate their progress.
