KRC Update – April 28, 2016

April 27, 2016

After several weeks of lunch time chess sessions in the KRC, eleven students were selected to represent St Pat’s at the Ballarat Regional Chess Championships on Thursday, April 28. Players were allocated 15 minutes for each game and encouraged to use the time shrewdly and not make hasty decisions. Students played 7 games each in either the Middle Years or the Open Secondary division.

The event was hosted by Ballarat and Clarendon College with Kids for Chess coaches on hand to settle any disputes. With tough competition from other schools, the day was full of challenge and it is wonderful to report that St Patrick’s College came third in both the Middle Years and Open Secondary division.

A true battle of minds, congratulations to all the boys for their fine efforts.
