KRC Update

February 7, 2020

2020 has seen several changes in the KRC. We have welcomed our new Assistant Director Ms Ingrid Perkins. She has certainly been thrown in the deep end as she has begun her career at St Patrick’s College. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position and in my absence has worked closely with Gail, Clare and Monica to implement some exciting changes to our space and oversee the beginning of another busy year.

The photo above shows the new “Reading Space”. This space houses our entire Fiction collection, including Graphic Novels, Series, Picture Books, Short Stories and much more. WIRED Reading classes can now be immersed in this collection as students select books and then have a comfortable space to read, away from other busier spaces in the library.

We have also purchased new tables and chairs for the teaching spaces. This allows furniture to be moved to accommodate a variety of configurations and uses, and I encourage staff to bring their classes to the library and enjoy the space provided. We also plan to move our Non-Fiction collection onto mobile shelves to further enhance the teaching areas.

Lastly, we have created a “Print Space” for both staff and students to use for creating portfolios, posters, brochures, and printing class work. This area can be used by students on passes or to compliment the class spaces.

We look forward to an exciting 2020 as we continue to support the learning and teaching for both staff and students.
