Launch of Respect Cup

February 23, 2021

Players Sam Butler and Lilli Condon begin the countdown to the inaugural Respect Cup.

St Patrick’s College is very excited to be joining forces with Loreto College, St Joseph’s College Geelong and Sacred Heart College Geelong for the launch of the inaugural Respect Cup which will be played on Tuesday, March 2 at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong.

As part of this incredible initiative the two boys’ schools will play a game of football as a curtain raiser to a game between the girls’ schools on the same afternoon.

The combined scores for both games will determine the overall winner between the Ballarat and Geelong teams.
The boys’ match will start at 2pm, followed by the girls at 3.45pm.

The game will be played in the lead up to International Women’s Day on March 8.

In recognition of this our players will be wearing specially-designed purple socks to show their respect for women.

Spectators are encouraged to attend what will be the first game our 1st XVIII has played since early 2020.

Join us at GMHBA stadium in the Reg Hickey stand – this is a free community event so everyone is welcome to come along to cheer on your team!
We can’t wait.

Check out the video at the following link which features Cameron Ling promoting the virtues of these games which will hope will become an annual event. Watch the video below.
