March 16 – College update on COVID-19

March 16, 2020

Dear all members of the St Patrick’s College community,

St Patrick’s College is continuing to work in a proactive manner to address growing concerns around the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).

At this stage St Patrick’s College will remain open and operational with a clear focus on classroom teaching and learning until we are otherwise directed by governing bodies including the State Government, the Catholic Education Office or Edmund Rice Education Australia.

However, all extra-curricular and out-of-classroom activities are being assessed on a case-by-case basis and we will continually inform our community when changes to scheduled events are enacted.

As such we now write to inform all that the planned SPC House Athletics Carnival which was scheduled to be held on Wednesday, March 18 has been cancelled and will be replaced with classes as per a normal Wednesday schedule.

A modified athletics event will be held for the College’s elite athletes on Wednesday morning, as a qualification event for those boys who aspire to represent the College at events later in the year. Boys wishing to apply to compete in this modified program must register their interest by email to either Director of Sport Ms Tina Benoit at tbenoit@stpats.vic.edu.au or to Head of Athletics Mr John Richards at jrichards@stpats.vic.edu.au

All other Ballarat Associated Schools sports events for the remainder of the term have been cancelled.

We remind parents that tomorrow’s planned St Patrick’s Day Mass and Assembly have also been cancelled and will be replaced with normal classes.

We thank you for your understanding in these challenging times and will seek to ensure you are fully informed as events unfold.

Please be assured that the safety and wellbeing of your son is always our number one priority.
