Middle School Report – April 14, 2016

April 13, 2016

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Middle School students back for Term Two and I hope that everyone had a refreshing and relaxing Easter break with family and friends. With the hectic schedule of Term One now completed, this term will provide an opportunity for the boys to focus on their studies without any major interruptions.

Interaction Day

At the end of last term, the Middle School hosted the Year 9 Loreto girls for the annual Interaction Day. This was an excellent opportunity for our boys to meet and interact with the girls in a variety of different activities focusing on getting to know one another and forming new friendships. A special thank you must go to Mrs Ashleigh Giampaolo for her diligent organisation and planning which enabled the day to be such a success. The student leaders from each Pastoral Care Group also did a tremendous job in running each of the activities throughout the day. We look forward to more opportunities for further interactions with Loreto later in the year.

Upcoming Events:

Parent Information Evening

Next week we have the first Parent Information Session for Middle School students. This is an excellent opportunity to meet with your son’s teachers and discuss his progress in all of his subjects. Students are encouraged to attend with their parents so that they can be a part of the discussions and listen to any feedback presented by their respective teachers. The interviews will be conducted on Tuesday the 19th and Thursday the 21st of April. Bookings can be made via PAM and will be open up to the day of the scheduled interviews. I strongly encourage all parents, where possible, to make themselves available to attend one of the sessions.

Cross Country

On Friday the April 22,- all Middle School students will be participating in the annual -‘Lap of the Lake’. All Middle School students are expected to participate in this event and the day should be a great opportunity for the students to have a rewarding experience.

Year 9 Retreat

The Year 9 Retreat is an important date in the school calendar and is fast approaching. The Retreat will take place on the April 28 and 29, with each Pastoral Group having an allocated day. Mr Michael Toohey will be sending out a parent information letter shortly about this event and will outline all of the necessary information for students and parents.

Melbourne Experience

Please keep in mind the Year 9 Melbourne Experience which will take place in the last week of term following the Queen’s Birthday Holiday. The four days will provide the students with an excellent opportunity to explore Melbourne and participate in a range of activities. Further information will follow shortly, but any concerns or queries in the meantime can be directed to Mrs Ashleigh Giampaolo via the College.

Kindest regards,

Mr Ross Wise

Director of Middle School
