‘Private Peaceful’ – June 1 and June 2 at 7pm

The College Play has been lucky enough to have current Year 11 student, Jed Brennan, design the wonderful poster displayed below to promote the performances which will take place in early June. The cast is busy rehearsing, and it is shaping up to be a fantastic display of SPC talent.

PUBLIC SPEAKING

Please congratulate the students pictured who represented St Pats in the Rostrum Voice of Youth public speaking competition which took place on Saturday at Loreto College. All the boys should be very proud of their efforts.

Jeremy Spedding made it through to the semi-finals and came runner up in the Senior Division which is a huge achievement against some extremely strong speakers from Loreto.

JUNIOR DEBATING

On Thursday, May 6 Year 7 and 8 debaters participated in a workshop run by the Debating Association of Victoria learning about the fundamental skills of debating to kick start their 2021 program. It was a fantastic day and illustrated the talent that our Junior boys have and will develop in this wonderful sport. Students from all year levels now set their sights on the ACU Debating Cup at South Street which will take place in Term 3. Any student interested in participating needs to register their interest with Ms Allen: mallen@stpats.vic.edu.au

MIDDLE/SENIOR DEBATING

DAV debating continues in Term 2 with the third round taking place on Wednesday, April 28. Our Year 9 team were just pipped by a very strong Ballarat Grammar but should be very impressed with their efforts.

Our senior Year 12 debaters had a secret topic, meaning they only had one hour to prepare their speeches. The boys should be extremely proud of their performance, coming away with the win.

Round four of DAV debating takes place on Wednesday, May 12 and we wish all our teams the best of luck.
