Performing Arts Report

March 31, 2022

by Ms Monique Allen, Head of Co-Curricular Performance

After a very busy start to the year, I would like to thank the students and families who have supported the performing arts co-curricular programs at The College. It has been so exciting to see the performing arts back in action.

Twelve Angry Men

The cast of Twelve Angry Men have had their first Sunday rehearsal of the production and the play is really starting to take shape. Place the production dates in your diaries: Wednesday 25 May – Friday 27 May at 7:30pm and Saturday 28 May at 1pm. The play will be performed at the Helen Macpherson Smith Theatre at Federation University.

Tickets will be released early in Term 2 so keep an eye out.

See below, twelve hungry boys:

House Theatre Sports Competition

The annual House Theatre Sports was a big success with Ryan house taking home the chocolates this year! We had engaging performances from all participants, but the following students received honourable mentions for their efforts:

  • Nunan: Xavier Bennett
  • Galvin: Josh Retallick
  • Keniry: Ted Turnbull-Gent

A huge congratulations to the actors from Ryan who impressed the judges with their comedic and dramatic skills. Also, a big thank you to Ms Walsh and Mr Ryan who gave up their lunch times to judge the competition.

DAV Debating Schools Competition

Congratulations to our C and VCE Grade debating teams who kicked off the season last week at Ballarat Grammar. Although the two teams who debated were defeated, it was still a wonderful evening with some strong speeches and performances.

We look forward to Round 2 in May where the two C Grade St. Pat’s teams will debate against each other.

A special thank you to VCE Coach Ingrid Perkins and C Grade Coach Nathaniel Winfield for supporting their teams in the lead up to each debate.
