A busy and exciting start to the year for all things performing arts at St. Pats.

Private Peaceful

The College Play auditions were extremely successful, and rehearsals will begin for the cast this week in week 4. We are very excited to bring this wonderful story to life.

Private Peaceful relives the life of Private Tommo Peaceful, a young First World War soldier awaiting the firing squad at dawn. During the night, he looks back at his short but joyful past growing up in rural Devon: his exciting first days at school; the accident in the forest that killed his father; his adventures with Molly, the love of his life; and the battles and injustices of war that brought him to the front line.

Loreto & St. Pats IMPROV Sports Competition

This initiative is designed to bring students from the two schools together, while using drama skills to participate in improvisation exercises across the two campuses. There will be two sessions, with Junior/Middle students competing in week 5 and Middle/Senior students competing in week 6.

Next week on Thursday, February 25 St. Pat’s will host the Loreto and SPC Impro Sports competition here at SPC in Chapel Court from 4-5pm for students in Years 7-9. There will some assistance from SPC Staff to judge as teams of four compete in different exercises such as ‘Space Jump’, ‘Death in a Minute’ and ‘Word at a time story’.

The following week on Thursday, March 5 SPC students in Years 9-12 will be invited up to Loreto to attend the second session on their campus, again from 4—5pm.

Debating

Our debating teams from Years 9-12 will kick off Round 1 of the DAV Schools Competition in Week 6 over at Ballarat Grammar and we wish them the best of luck in the five rounds of debating this year. A big thank you to coaches Nathaniel Winfield, Glenda Morris and Bridie Laffey in their support and guidance of their teams.

Junior debaters (Year 7 and 8s) are asked to keep an eye out for some information regarding an in-house debating competition in Term 2 to prepare for South Street debating later in the year.
