Music Camp

From May 4 -“ 6, the boys in our Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Stage Band and Chamber Choir participated in our annual music camp at Lake Dewar. The boys used the camp as an opportunity to begin preparing repertoire for upcoming concerts and competitions. The weekend featured intense rehearsals with each of the bands, sectional rehearsals with specialist instrumental tutors, team building activities and concluded with a beautiful concert on Mother’s Day. The boys did an outstanding amount of work over the weekend and are to be commended for the way they represented both themselves and the College. Thank you to all the music staff who gave up their weekend and put so much effort into making the camp a success.

Year 7 Music Concerts

On Thursday May 14 and Thursday May 21, we held our annual Year 7 Music Concerts in the Pavilion. These concerts give our Year 7 students their first experience of performing to an audience in a concert band setting. Both concerts were extremely well attended with standing room only. The boys did a great job in their performances and have made excellent progress in the short amount of time they have been learning their instruments. Particular congratulations go out to the boys who volunteered to play solos. Well done boys.

Year 7 Junior Concert Band

Invitations are currently being extended to Year 7 students who are interested in joining our Junior Concert Band. Rehearsals commence Monday 1 June and will be held in the Band Room from 3:45 -“ 4:30. Any Year 7 boys who are interested in participating in this exciting new band should speak to their classroom music teacher.
