Recent Nude Food Day a Success

September 4, 2019

On Tuesday August 27 our College conducted a Nude food day. Students and staff were encouraged to make a special effort to -‘cut the wrap’ as part of the Wipe Out Waste Schools Less to Landfill Challenge. Every piece of packaging or excess food that we can save from landfill makes a difference.

At St. Patrick’s College there was a noticeable difference in the amount of rubbish going into bins and onto the floor and ground.- The SAGERS group who ran the day would like to thank all who made this special effort.- We’d also encourage you to make it a normal practice so that less material is wasted and our landfill sites don’t fill up so quickly.

The College spends thousands of dollars each year moving rubbish to land fill and on a national scale our society loses more than just money by the amount of rubbish we create.- The energy and pollution of our waterways and atmosphere caused by our -‘throw away’ culture cannot continue if future generations are to live as pleasant a life as we do.

Please continue to help us minimise food and packaging waste by packing a waste-less lunch!
