Senior School Report – August 3, 2017

August 3, 2017

Last week our Year- 11s took a day out of their normal schedule to listen to David Kobler present on -What is it to be a man?– He gave our boys a perspective that is counter to what is often portrayed in the media or entertainment.- Hopefully our boys will be able take much of what he said on board and thus make their relationships much more positive, for them and their future partners.- He talked for one about the fact that many see pornography as an innocuous habit, but in fact it is quite damaging to those who watch it and damaging to those who form relationships with them.- Not something we want for any of our young men.

Our Year 10s are working through the maze of VCE subject selection.- To assist you in this process, please talk with a wide variety of people including teachers, be aware of pre-requisites for university courses and take advantage of the 20 minute interviews offered on this coming Monday and Wednesday (after school) and Saturday morning.- Bookings are made on PAM in a similar way to Parent/Teacher interviews.

August is also the season of Open Days.- This following link gives the dates for Victoria. http://www.openday.com.au/tertiary/melbourne/

It is worth noting that much of the Ballarat Junior Football league has a Saturday game on August 19, freeing up August 20 to visit the University of Melbourne or Deakin University, Geelong. Federation University and ACU Ballarat have their Open Day on August 27.- Year Tens should consider attending these days, as should Year Elevens and Twelves.
