SPC farewells our Year 12 Class of 2023

October 18, 2023

St Patrick’s College has farewelled its Year 12 Class of 2023, celebrating a journey of learning, faith and friendship.

Students started the day with breakfast in the sunshine outside the OCA Pavilion, before they were officially farewelled at the Year 12 and Community Awards Assembly.

Addressing the Year 12 students, 2024 College Captain Noah Quick encouraged the cohort to stay together, support each other and laugh together as they approached end-of-year exams.

“Class of 2023, on behalf of the College, I bid you farewell and wish you the best of luck in the days ahead,” he said.

“Be healthy, be happy, be kind and stay connected. You will always remain an integral part of our community.”

Principal Steven O’Connor congratulated the students on reaching this significant milestone, saying there was “so much to be grateful for, so much to look forward to and so much to be happy about”.

“I wish you every blessing as you prepare for many adventures and life beyond this place,” he said.

“Like many others in the College community, I pray for you in the next few weeks as you finish this journey and will continue to pray for you in the years ahead.”

“I am confident that each of you, regardless of where your faith journey is and the status of your relationship with God, is well placed and has innate goodness and strong character which stems from a combination of loving and supportive families, your experience of an education here at St Pat’s and the embrace of the entire College community.”

Following the assembly, the Year 12s returned to their homerooms for a final time where they were given letters they had written to themselves in Year 7.

They were then asked to write a letter of gratitude to someone who had made a positive impact on their educational journey.

The day of celebrations finished with one of the College’s favourite Year 12 traditions – the Leave Taking Ceremony – and Thanksgiving Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral.
