SPC Tour of Ireland and the UK -“ Day 11

After ten amazing days touring the green fields, the rocky northern terrain and the many wonderful cities and towns, it was time to bid farewell to the island and Ireland and cross the Irish Sea bound for London.

A busy morning ensued with loading and unloading luggage and saying goodbye and thank you to our fantastic driver Pete (if ever you are looking for a bus driver in Ireland do everything in your power to get Pete from Tony Doyle Bus Services -“ he’s a gem).

We boarded the Air Lingus flight Belfast to London at lunchtime and were lucky have a wonderful view of the English capital as we prepared to land an hour later.

Buses were ready to transfer us to our hotel in South Kensington where boys found their rooms and were then presented with the London Pass and train passes which will be invaluable over the coming days.

The challenge of travelling constantly together as a massive group of 63 students and staff will be alleviated somewhat during our time in London as boys have been divided into smaller groups of 7 or 8 and assigned to travel together with a staff member.

So, as seven separate smaller groups, we all ventured onto the train system for our first experience of the famous London tube and started to learn our way around the city.

All groups travelled from our base in the south west of the city to the famous Brick Lane in the eastern quarter in search of dinner at one of London’s many famous curry restaurants.

The groups scattered throughout Brick Lane, each in search of the best deal and experience on offer before taking in some various London sights on their way back to the hotel separately.

On the agenda tomorrow are tours of Lords Cricket Ground and of Stamford Bridge -“ the home ground for the Chelsea Football Club.
